WMCT

WMCT-TV was started back in 1984 by Prime Cable Company.  Back then it was only one station.  We went through some name changes.  “WMCT channel 30″ became “WMCT channel 3.”  Then in 1998 the WMCT name was dropped and “m3″ was born.   Then a lineup change with the newest cable comany, Comcast, brought about “m8″.  In 2000 we gained another channel.  It was named “m10″ until 2004 when it took on the old favorite name of “WMCT”.  Current Executive Director, Dan Guindon, was around in the WMCT-TV days and always wanted to keep those call letters!

Today, WMCT-TV consists of two stations; m8 which broadcasts programs (over local cable channel 8 ) created by the public and WMCT which broadcasts programs (over local cable channel 10) created by the professional staff at WMCT.  With a small, yet strong and dedicated staff, WMCT produces 16 regular programs, including a weekly newscast!  And we are always brainstorming new show ideas!
