Haverhill Trip A Success

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

The Downtown Village Association’s trip, sponsored by Olde Marlborough and the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation, was a success, according to City Councilors and downtown business owners. While comparing Haverhill’s downtown and Marlborough’s downtown is like comparing apples to oranges, the group feels that they came away with some great ideas on how to revitalize the downtown area here in town.
WMCT Reporter, Meaghann Mellen was on scene and you can catch her report on Marlborough This Week next weekend starting at 6pm on Friday.

Weather Warnings Available

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

WMCT-TV is now offering severe weather warnings in several locations; here on the website, our Facebook page (have you become our friend yet?) and during WMCT-TV programming.
“If we get word of severe weather heading our way we’ll run a scroll over any programming that is running,” said Program Director, Rob O’Keefe.
Such a situation came up last week with the tornado warning. The city wanted to let residents know that the public schools were being opened up as a shelter alternative. WMCT-TV was running a scroll over their programming to let viewers know.
“We also posted the news on our website and Facebook page for those who weren’t watching us at the time,” reported Executive Director Dan Guindon.
“We want to be there for the community in situations like these and it’s great to have that opportunity to do that through our viewership and web and Facebook,” added O’Keefe.

No, we didn’t do anything wrong! :)
Yesterday, Producer Mike Lawton chased down a story in Marlborough. A Funeral Home van, which transports flowers to and from funerals, was stolen from in front of the IC Church. The Marlborough Police gave chase and busted the suspect. We ran it on our Facebook page, our web site and on the air at WMCT-TV. Channel 7 ended up using Mike’s footage! Pretty cool, so we thought we’d mention it!
